A Male Awakening

Share

I’ve recently spent some time with more than a few men who are sharing something interesting.

These men are going through a sexual awakening.

What’s interesting is that in the world of Conscious Sexuality so many women experience and go through a sexual awakening, and it’s not something we talk about with men.

This awakening is about many men becoming aware of their sexual fluidity.

The desire to experience and explore with other men.

The attraction to other men.

Without a label, without a meaning.

They’re interested, they’re curious.

Something inside is waking up, something inside wants to know.

What makes this so difficult is that most of these men are in relationships.

And there’s often not a space to share this with their partner’s.

There’s so much pain in this, so much anguish, so much repression, so much suppression.

These are men who come from many different communities, different backgrounds.

And in this, as with so much of our emotional, sensual and sexual life, we don’t have a language, a culture, a way to communicate this, to talk about this.

We don’t have a way to talk about what’s inside of us, what we desire, what we’re curious about, what draws us.

And in this are men who are hurting, men who are feeling alone.

Men who would love to share what’s within them, talk about it, find a way to express themselves,

There’s something more in this, something much deeper.

It’s about men knowing what they want, being able to talk about it.

It’s about men learning a new way of being, of talking.

And it’s not just about sex.

It’s about the heart, the mind, the body.

It’s not just about genitals, it’s about skin, it’s about what it’s like to be held by a man, to be close.

It’s about men reaching out.

And, of course there’s an element of sex in it, an element of desire.

There’s an element of knowing who we are, really are, men and women, sexually and sensually.

It’s an exploration of who we are, of how we have relationships, of how we talk.

It’s an exploration of love rather than fear.

It’s an exploration of how many men, and women, can stop living secret lives.

It’s an exploration of possibility.
