GOING DEEPER THAN THE SURFACE OF PLEASURE

Share

Many of us live surface lives, especially when it comes to our bodies.

Many of us live surface lives, especially when it comes to pleasure.

Many of us live surface lives, especially when it comes to sensuality, sexuality and eroticism.

Many of us live surface lives, especially when it comes to feeling and emotion.

It’s easier.

It’s patterned, conditioned.

It’s what we know, what we expect.

It has a level of safety, which has nothing to do with happiness, fulfillment or joy, in fact just the opposite.

It’s what we know.

And yet within us is something more, that at some point wakes up, in some way.

And when it does, it wants more.

For one reason.

That’s what it is, that’s its nature.

To feel, to experience.

To live, to laugh, to cry, to rage.

To create.

To feel ecstasy.

To expand.

It’s what it is, it’s who we are.

And when it wakes up, it desires…life.

Many people come to this work, not because of a problem, an issue, a blockage.

Not be healed or fixed, whatever we think that may be.

Rather, because something is waking up.

And because we’ve lived so much of this patterned, conditioned, dulled-down, surface life, we often have no idea what to do with this.

Because, like all awakenings, it upsets things, sometimes chaotically.

One of the fascinating things about a sexual awakening is that it doesn’t happen in a vacuum.

Which is one of the most fascinating things about becoming more sexually conscious.

Despite that for many of us, sex is this thing that we keep separate from the rest of life.

Sexual awakening is life awakening, emotion awakening, mind awakening, relationship awakening.

It awakens all of us.

And in this, with this, comes the awareness and desire for more, for depth.

For exploration, for discovery, for adventure.

For life.

There’s something I say a lot, because I hear it a lot.

‘This is all about sex, and nothing to do with sex.’

What it’s saying is that what happens in our sexuality, when it’s more conscious, is taken into life. And what we learn, expand into in life, we bring into our pleasure.

‘I’ve noticed how the more I’m in my body, the more sensually present I am, the more confident I am everywhere, and how that’schanged so many situations for me .’

A simple thing, with wide implications.

Our sexuality happens in the context of our lives, even though we’ve tried so hard and on the surface, disconnected them.

And when one awakens, starts to expand, the other parts do the same.

And when we make the conscious connection, which is the key, worlds open to us.

Conscious Sexuality, Conscious Life.

Going beyond the surface, dropping even a little deeper, requires us to increase our capacity.

The capacity of our bodies to feel more.

The capacity of our hearts to open more.

The capacity to be more present, more aware.

The capacity for more sensation.

The capacity for greater sexual energy.

The capacity for deeper intimacy.

The capacity for curiosity.

The capacity for emotional depth.

It’s there within us, it always was.

I don’t know if the saying ignorance is bliss is a near enemy, it certainly is dull, mediocre, boring, controlled, and the opposite of who we really are.

The expression of life is vital, vibrant, moving, changing, growing.

That’s who we are, life.

If dropping even a little deeper, if going even a little beyond the surface draws you, if the idea of possibility excites you, I invite you to come and explore, come and experience, come and learn…
