The way we generally experience pleasure is that it happens, it’s often done to us.
Or we’re doing it to someone else.
It’s often goal-oriented, about getting to a point.
It’s an act, it starts, it finishes, not always fulfillingly.
It’s often brief, short, and just as we’re starting to enjoy it, feel it, it ends.
It’s very much the doing of pleasure that we experience, rather than the pleasure, the being of pleasure.
Pleasure is so deeply an intrinsic aspect of ourselves.
Bliss and ecstasy are part of us.
They’re deep within us.
They’re in our bodies, in our hearts, in our energy.
In sensation and feeling.
In connection.
In our sensuality, not only our sensuality connected to sex, our sensuality of sight, sound, taste, touch, smell, feeling, intuition, sensing, knowing.
This is how we experience ourselves, others, life, the world.
And over time, generations, we’ve narrowed our pleasure, narrowed it to a few brief moments.
Narrowed it to small parts of our bodies.
Narrowed it to be more functional than emotional, energetic, feeling.
We’ve taken the pleasure out of much of life by disconnecting from our bodies, from our senses.
We’ve narrowed it by judging pleasure, judging ourselves in our pleasure, in all the ways we express and experience it, even the simplicity of feeling the air on our skin, the sun, the rain.
Tasting what we eat.
Feeling another’s hand.
And the brief seconds of orgasm we chase.
A phrase came to me a few moments ago, and inspired me to write this.
Be inside our pleasure.
In our disconnect from our bodies, from feeling, sensation, and the short moments we have, we’ve separated from our pleasure.
It happens to us, we do it, it’s done to us, and by making it a functional experience, we haven’t really, fully, deeply, met, felt, known, our pleasure.
We feel something, briefly, and shallowly, in a way that we’re on the outside of it, not inside of it.
Being inside our pleasure is being inside ourselves, inhabiting it, being a resident rather than a visitor.
It’s not an ownership, which is a separation, and for many an important step on the journey. It goes beyond that to a knowing, a relationship, an intimacy.
It’s not mine, it’s me.
It’s who I am, an intrinsic part of me, as is all that I am.
And in this, it’s always present.
It flows within me, around me, as does all of life.
It’s not done to me, it is me.
And my expression of pleasure, in so many ways, limitless ways, is a natural expression of me, it flows from me, through me, in me around me.
It’s not something I do.
It’s something I am.
It’s the aliveness of feeling.
It’s the expression of my sensuality.
It’s feeling everything I can feel, without a judgement on this being good and this being bad.
It’s as much my tears and loneliness as my joy and my love.
And because many of us reading this are going to connect it to sex, it’s about being sex rather than doing sex.
Being inside my pleasure is being inside my body with the awareness of vibration, of pulsation, from my blood to the orgasmic tingles of my lover’s kiss.
It’s as if I’m standing in a vast room, everything happening around me, lights, sounds, quivers, tremors, smells, tastes, feeling, waves, ripples…
I’m watching them in wonder, and I am them.
I’m sensing the mystery of it, seeing the mystery, and I am the mystery.
And my mind can’t quite grasp that.
It’s the experience of it, the knowing of it.
It doesn’t have words, but it does have a language.
The language of the heart.
The language of my soul.
This journey I experience, this journey I share with you, this is what it is.
It’s going inside.
It’s becoming rather than doing.
It’s feeling into this body, in life.
It’s feeling into our feelings, into our senses.
It’s allowing an intimacy, a deepening intimacy with all that’s within, with all that we are.
It’s being inside in amazement.
It’s Love.
Love making us, weaving us into ourselves, into life.
It’s the sacred moments, the ordinary moments, that are the same, when we live them from the Divine Vibration of Life pulsing within us.
