For a man to sit opposite another man and to look into his eyes is powerful.

For a man to sit naked opposite another man is powerful.

For a man to hold his hands out to another man is powerful.

For a man to be acknowledged by another man is powerful.

For a man to sit with his heart against that of another man is powerful.

For a man to be held by, to hold, another man is powerful.

For a man to breathe with another man is powerful.

For a man to be touched, to touch, another man is powerful.

For a man to receive from another man is powerful.

The power is in the vulnerability, the power is in the intimacy.

The power is in dropping the story we have about men being intimate with men.

Intimate in a way that’s not sexual, that’s not genital, rather an intimacy of the heart, of this masculine heart.

The power is in dropping the meaning, the constricted, contracted, inhibited meaning of men being physical with each other.

The power is in the comfort of these man’s arms holding each other.

The power is in this man’s chest to rest our head upon.

The power is in the brotherhood of connection.

The power is in men being at peace with themselves, and with each other, with no need to dominate, to destroy.

The power is men seeing the strength of unity.

The power is in men learning to soften, with themselves, with each other, with the world.

The power is in men reaching out with open hearts, to share.

The power is in flowing, dancing with life.

The power is in knowing there is enough without greed and hoarding.

The power is in seeing, in being seen.

One of the deepest experiences I share with men is Kashmiri Massage.

It’s a physically close experience of gentle touch, of breath, of acknowledging a whole body.

It’s a meditation on the expression of the heart.

And in this space of touch so much is allowed to happen.

When we connect like this we allow ourselves to release our masks and our armour.

We allow ourselves to be felt and accepted.

We allow ourselves to be touched in a way that reaches deep inside of us to soothe our wounds.

We allow ourselves to be touched in a way that relaxes the tension we’ve held onto for so long. The tension of patterning and conditioning. The tension that holds limitations and inhibitions in place. The tension that holds fear in our bodies, in our actions. The tension that holds our hearts from loving with the openness of the sky.

The tension that keeps our sexuality locked in a narrow expression of contraction rather than expansion.

The tension that holds us on judgment of ourselves.

The tension that keeps us from our soul.

For so long, so many years of doing this work, I’ve seen again and again, the power of this touch.

It goes to a place within us beyond words.

It doesn’t get hung up on the explanation, the analysis, the discussion, the defence, the justification.

The more we’re in the mind the further away we are from the body, the more disconnected we are from this inner wisdom.

The body knows.

And in softness, in relaxation, we can hear, we can feel what’s being shared from deep within us.

This is the space of possibility.
