Politeness gets in the way of pleasure.
Politeness of the body
Politeness of the heart
Politeness of the voice
Politeness of the mind.
Politeness under the veneer of civilization
Heaped on us for generations
Of control
The politeness of acceptability
Which so often hides our realness
Our rawness
Our vulnerability
Our power.
Politeness that contains us
Constrains us
Contracts us
Holds us tight in how we think we
Should look
Should move
Should sound
Should think
Politeness has told us
In such subtle and overt ways
To judge
To fear
Pleasure
For the freedom it may bring.
Politeness has told us
We can’t be too loud
We can’t be too much
Politeness of how we should ask
What we should ask for
How much sound
How much noise
We can make
How much of a voice we can have
In our pleasure
So the roar of pleasure
The want of pleasure
Has become a whisper.
Politeness has told us
We can’t dance too much
In our pleasure
Can’t move too much
Can’t be too wild
Can’t writhe and gyrate
With abandon
Politeness has kept our pelvis
Tight and narrow
So the dance of pleasure
Has become a small movement
Rather than the wild thrust of life.
Politeness has told us
We can’t look too wild
Too feral
In our pleasure
To hold onto layers of civilization
And not allow the ancient spirit
Of the God
The Goddess of pleasure loose
For their wildness is the fire
That rips off masks of niceness
And controlled bodies
Into the liberating throb of being.
Politeness has told us
We can’t go to deeply into ourselves
Into desire
With the judgement of the shadow
With the numbing of sensation
With the taboo of exploration
With the inhibition of curiosity
Politeness has told us
We can’t want too much
Of the wonder-full feast of life.
Politeness has told us
So many tales
Of who
Of how
We can have pleasure with
Through labels and rejection
Politeness has taken us from
The truth of connection
Through the lie of porn
The illusion of movies
The narrowing of religion
And the disconnection of the body.
Politeness has told us
To be satisfied
With the achievement of
Quick orgasms
Numbing friction
Momentary release
Rather than the adventure into realms
Within us
Portals of consciousness
Doorways to sacredness
That liberate mind and body
Open the heart
Connect us with spirit
In the union of life.
Politeness has told us
Of the smallness of pleasure
The narrowness of love
Rather than the Divine reflection
That awaits us.
I have a retreat coming up soon, The Red Temple of Sensual and Erotic Touch, which is an invitation to go beyond politeness into what’s alive and awake within us, through the experience of Conscious Touch.
You’re invited, there’s some info here: https://eroslife.co.za/events_2/the-red-temple-of-sensual-and-erotic-touch/
