When we look up the word Encounter, we find something interesting in the definition.
‘Unexpected’, is in the definition.
There is so much in our sexuality that is unexpected.
When we hear the word Sensuality we tend to connect it to sex, to the foreplay.
And of course, that’s a part of sensuality, there’s just so much more.
And when we begin exploring our Sensuality, we find the more, and we find the unexpected.
We find so many delicious surprises, such endless possibilities.
Let’s start here.
Sensuality is about our senses, sight, sound, smell, touch, taste, feeling, intuition…
In, and through, our senses, we experience life, we experience the world, we experience each other.
You’re reading this, it’s sensual.
And because sensuality is how we experience life, it’s also a path of consciousness.
Sensuality, with awareness, brings us into presence. It brings us into our bodies, into feeling.
It brings us into the direct experience of life.
And there are so many ways to do this, so many moments in the day.
One of my favorite examples of this is the first coffee in the morning.
Hold the cup in your hand.
Feel the weight, the warmth.
Bring it to your nose, close your eyes, inhale the aroma.
Taste the first sip, taste it with as much presence as you can.
Then drink the coffee.
It’s a moment of sensual presence, of awareness.
The unexpected is that when we really taste, it’s different every day.
So often we have the expectation of an experience, rather than the present, direct sensual moment.
This is a sensual micro-practice, and I’m going to share more with you.
The more sensually aware we become in this way, the more in our bodies we are, the more sensitive we become, the more we feel.
The connection to pleasure is that these practices, these moments, enhance our pleasure.
We become better lovers by being more aware, by being more sensual.
We become more connected to our bodies, those of our partners.
We become more intimate.
And intimacy is an element of sensuality.
We become more intimate with life, and we become more intimate with our lovers.
We come to see how important intimacy is in finding fulfilment, in creating deeper experiences, in lasting relationships.
We understand the language of the body more, the conversation of pleasure.
We learn to slow down, to appreciate, to breathe.
We learn to connect, and how connecting leads to better, to amazing sex.
We learn about energy, and building arousal, creating desire.
We learn about the invitation that sensuality has for us.
We connect with ourselves first, which helps us to become our own lover.
We develop a relationship with ourselves, with our bodies and our hearts.
Sensuality becomes a path of personal growth, enquiry and expansion.
We find ourselves, and we find the unexpected in ourselves.
We surprise ourselves by becoming freer, more confident, more open.
And in our sensuality, we connect with another.
With our eyes, with our touch, with our words, with breathing in the scent of another,
We move together, we talk, we listen.
We kiss.
It’s in our sensuality.
We look into each other’s eyes.
And the more sensually aware we are, the more pleasure aware we are.
The Unexpected is an endless discovery of sensual delights,
A life-long journey of exploration and adventure.
And a journey of pleasure, that deepens and expands in so many ways.
In a few weeks, 11 Nov, I’ll be in Goa, at Heartland Yoga, to share Sensual Encounters with you.
Everyone is welcome, single people and couples.
I invite you to join me on this journey as we explore and experience our sensuality in so many ways, and find the unexpected in ourselves, in each other, and in life.
