As much as we’d like to be amazing lovers, and as much as we’d like to have mind-blowing experiences, full-body orgasms, cosmic orgasms, spiritual connection, the things we hear about, watch on videos, there re a few things that are important in making that happen.
The first is learning. We don’t get a lot of education for pleasure, and there is so much to learn, and explore. About our bodies, our partner’s bodies, about energy, connection, the language of the body, the heart, the mind…
It’s an endless, limitless journey of learning and exploration.
Then there’s the practice.
Spending time with what we learn, with our ourselves, with our lovers. We tend to leave this to when we actually have sex, which for most of us becomes the experience of getting to orgasm, to the release, to the ending.
The Art of Pleasure is a path of awareness, of consciousness, of energy, even of spirituality.
It’s a path of personal growth and healing, it’s a path of connecting to another, to life. It’s a path of the mind as well as the body, looking at beliefs, at inhibitions, at fears, at anger as well as desire. It’s a path of freedom in many ways, a path of creativity, of vitality.
It’s a path where we see how our eroticism, our sensuality, is connected to so many aspects of ourselves, to life, and how many of our patterns and conditioning play out in our sexuality, and in our relationships. It’s a path that’s exciting, challenging, opening, expanding and mysterious.
For me, one of the most beautiful, worshipful and sensation-filled experiences of the art of pleasure is The Yoni Kiss. There are so many aspects, so many elements to this, especially when we go beyond the idea of orgasm.
I’m going to digress for a moment, orgasms are fabulous, most of the ways they happen, and we should have all the orgasms we can. They give us so much in many ways.
There’s more, so much more, that’s the point I’m making here.
When our focus is solely on the orgasm, we’re often chasing something, all we want is to get to the goal. We don’t take time, we don’t explore, we’re not aware of energy, of the deeper, more subtle sensations, feelings and possibilities. We don’t take time to appreciate the yoni, in all its wonder, its mystery, its beauty. We don’t take time to savour the texture, the taste, the fragrance. We don’t take time to become aware of our mouths, on what we’re feeling, what’s happening within us. We don’t take to connect tour hearts, the feel her whole body through our lips, our tongue, to experience the oneness.
