The Intimate Power in our Eyes

Share

A while ago I had an experience that was so beautiful, so powerful, so intimate.

It was an experience without touch, not in the way we view touch anyway.

It was a timeless experience.

It was a heart opening experience, a body experience of deep sensation.

It was an Eye Gazing Experience.

There is such power in our eyes.

It’s been said that the eyes are the windows to the soul, and as much as Eye Gazing is an experience of looking, it’s an experience of being seen.

It’s opening ourselves, revealing ourselves to another.

It’s a meeting of eyes, a meeting of hearts and souls.

It’s a vulnerable practice, we’re dropping our masks, showing ourselves.

We’re letting someone in, deeply inside.

Into a place that has no words, an inner knowing, a connection of deep intimacy.

It’s a practice of love, of making love.

Which is so much more than genitals, so much more than Yoni and Lingam.

Making Love is an experience that’s the fullness of who we are, all of who we are.

And there are so many ways to express that.

The consciousness of our eyes, when connected to our hearts, becomes palpable.

Our senses, our sensuality, are a path of awareness, as well as a path of pleasure.

Learning to look with awareness, at our lovers, at life, becomes spiritual.

We learn to look with the eyes of our heart.

We learn to see.

Without a story, a judgement, just see what’s there.

We learn to look with our hearts.

There are so many moments in life to meet another’s eyes, with openness, to see, to be seen, to connect.

It’s one of the first practices we teach, it’s on most of the workshops.

For so many of us it’s a difficult practice, looking into another’s eyes, even someone we know, someone we’ve known for a long time, can be challenging.

Because of the vulnerability, the intimacy.

I wrote a piece a while ago about how we have sex instead of being intimate.

The intimacy is what we want, what we crave, and so often what we fear.

There’s a practice we can do, connecting our eyes to our heart.

In this we allow our eyes to open in a more intimate way.

Become aware of your heart centre, a space in the middle of your chest.

As you breathe, have the awareness that you’re breathing into your heart, breathing out from your heart.

Slow, deep breaths.

Keep your awareness on your breath, moving in and out of your heart.

When you feel a connection with your heart, a sensation, a feeling, an openness, breath that to your eyes.

Look with your heart, look with intimacy, look with love.

Look at your lover, look at life, with love.

And in that moment, be seen, be seen, be open, reveal yourself.

Learning to make love with our eyes opens so many possibilities.

It expands our world, our pleasure, our connection in so many ways.

We become lovers of life, more and more, in every moment.

I’ll be in Goa for a series of workshops and sessions in Nov, beginning with Sensual Encounters 11/12.

We’ll be exploring our delicious sensuality as a path of awareness and pleasure, connecting with the body, with the heart, with ourselves, with another.

Join us at Heartland Yoga, Querim Beach, Goa.
