I’ve shared with you one of the cornerstones of my work, patterns.
Touch is a place where our patterns are very present, and keeps us from being present.
What does that mean?
We touch in patterns, often without thinking, and often without feeling.
We touch with a goal in mind, particularly when it comes to pleasure.
We touch in the way we touch because it’s patterned into us. And often it’s the way we’ve been touching for a long time, without much awareness.
Touch is an amazing way to become present, it’s a meditation in a way.
And when we’re present in our touch, the depth of possibility is limitless.
Touch is one of the deepest, most beautiful, most powerful, most subtle languages of the body.
Touch goes to places your words cannot.
Touch has no story, it’s a truth that we know deep inside of us.
Touch is a path of incredible intimacy and also a way to mind-blowing, body-expanding, heart-opening pleasure.
We can talk about, which I love to do, let’s call it the philosophy of touch, for a long time.
And what’s more important for now is how we can be more present, in and through touch.
The first thing is that touch is a conversation, and when we’re present in a conversation, so much happens.
We talk, we listen, we hear, we share, we explore, we discover.
We ask questions. We learn about the subtle body responses.
We learn when to be quiet, when to be still, when to move, when to be soft and slow, when to be fiery.
The conversation begins with a connection.
Learning to connect with the body in stillness, in quiet.
Rest your hand on your lover.
Breathe.
Feel the skin under your palm, your fingers.
Feel the texture, the warmth.
Maybe there’s a moment of breath, a soft tide of rise and fall.
Take time here, don’t rush.
Because this is often the pattern, to move, stroke, caress…
In stillness we connect.
In stillness we relax.
In stillness we feel, we are felt.
We open the space.
When you begin to move, however, you’re going to feel.
Bring your awareness to your hands, to the skin under your hands.
Bring your awareness to the shape, to the feeling,
Bring your awareness to your hands, to what you’re feeling, the sensation of touching.
Remember the conversation, it’s happening at the same time. A* much as you’re touching, you’re being touched at the same time.
Keep your awareness in your hands.
That’s where we become present, through awareness.
The awareness of sensation.
The awareness of the point of contact.
The next thing is to slow down, then slow down more.
To listen.
To breathe.
To feel, everything.
Feel your lover’s body, feel their heart.
And as you’re touching, remember the conversation.
Receive the touch with awareness.
Feel where you’re being touched, the sensation of your lover’s hands.
Breathe into presence.
