Pleasure is medicine.
Sexual energy is medicine.
Consciousness is the key.
I’ve been working in this field, Conscious Sexuality, Tantra, Neo-Tantra, Eroticism, Spiritual Sexuality, Sensuality, for over 30 yrs.
Doing sessions, workshops, retreats, talks etc.
Here’s some of what I’ve seen and experienced. Not from a research, scientific place, from personal experience.
I think much of sexuality is a mystery. There is research, of course there is, and it’s amazing. It’s amazing that it’s taken this long to map the fullness of the clitoris. Which really shows how little we know about sexuality and pleasure, the body. And despite living in a world obsessed with sexuality, and obsessed with suppressing it, how little attention we pay to it. And as important as the research is, sexuality, sensuality and eroticism cannot be put into a box.
It’s Mystery, alive, pulsating and throbbing, in our bodies, hearts and lives.
The 1st part is consciousness.
Conscious Sexuality as I understand it, is to be present in the experience, and allow whatever’s there to arise, to emerge.
And here’s where it becomes different from friction-based, orgasm-chasing sex. Not as a judgement. As a very different experience.
To be present.
In the body, in the feeling, in the sensation, in the energy.
As soon as we’re chasing, as soon as there’s performance, as soon as there’s achievement, we’re out of presence. We’re in the future, we’re in a pattern.
We’re in a judgement, because that’s the criterion for the experience to be successful. That’s it, how much, how big, how many times, how many things on the list to tick off.
Presence is feeling everything that’s there, the anger, the guilt, the disconnect, the frustration, the uncertainty, the lack of fulfillment, not being seen, heard, met. As well as the pleasure. And presence makes the pleasure more delicious, more intense. When our attention is at the end of the experience, we feel the surface of what there is, almost in passing.
Then to allow it to be there.
And this is where part of the medicine begins. To allow it, welcome it, feel it.
To know that the vulnerability of the experience, whatever’s happening, is what opens the door to allow the feeling, the emotion, to come to the surface, to awareness. And then to look at it.
In so many different ways.
With the mind as well as the body. Sometimes that’s where the experience ends, as we work with what’s come up, sometimes the healing and release, the dissolution is right there. Sometimes it opens a deep pattern within us, connected to so many parts of life.
And it’s the sexual energy, the openness, that brought it to awareness.
And in many ways, that becomes the path of healing. And healing so much that has nothing to do with sex. This energy is life-force, vitality, creativity. Pleasure is the way we access it, consciously, intentionally, with a purpose.
Here’s some of what I’ve experienced over the years, and a big part of this is how much else in our lives change as we access, experience and use this energy more.
The healing and release of so many deep patterns, about self-worth, self-judgement, self-acceptance. The release of pain and hurt of so much that we’ve carried for so long. Emotions, experiences locked in the body.
How the relationship with our bodies change, from judgement and comparison to acceptance, liking, loving. Which is connected to a deeper awareness of health in many ways.
How we become more confident in ourselves, which impacts on work, relationships, life.
How we become more creative, not only artistically, however we express that, but at work, in life.
How we connect more to ourselves, to others, to the world, with a greater understanding of the connectedness of everything.
How relationships change and open to a greater expression of who we are, what happiness and fulfillment are. We become so much more aware in these spaces of who we are, what we’re doing, how we’re doing it, the patterns we live with.
How much more relaxed we are. And realizing what that means is huge. We know that at the root of more and more illnesses, disease and dis-ease is stress. And in our world of increasing disconnect, disembodiment and aloneness how many more people are on medication for these, and the conditions that arise from them. Pleasure connects us, to ourselves, to others, to life.
That’s touching the tip of the iceberg.
And I’m not saying that pleasure is the answer to everything, not by a long-shot. It does have a lot answers, and is an important part of who we are, that offers a way in to so much.
The Mystery, the magic is that as much research is done, there’s an element of this that will never be put in a box. Because it is life-force itself. It is the energy of creation. Everything exists because of the interplay of this energy in some way. And we can access it for a whole lot more than the release of a few seconds of contractive orgasm.
There’s a shift in perspective here.
To see sexual experiences, pleasure experiences as being more, and actually that that’s just the way in to something much deeper. We’ve been so conditioned to look at these experiences in quite a narrow way, when they have so much more for us. An example of this is a teargasm. An orgasm that brings emotion up to be released that leaves us in tears.
So much of my work is in touch, massage, in so many different ways, to access this energy. It’s a path that ultimately gives us an intimacy with ourselves, and others, that’s nothing short of spiritual.
It’s also a different path and perspective of being broken, of needing to be fixed and healed. And even if that’s where we start, as so many of us do, there’s a point where healing becomes growth. Which means we still, will always have, work to do with ourselves, that’s a life-long journey. Doing it with the energy of pleasure makes it a different path, one of greater affirmation and expansion.
This isn’t simple stuff, it’s what there’s space for today. Even looking at what pleasure is, means, is a part of it.
It’s a journey of exploration, discovery, self-awareness, connection, intimacy, consciousness and more.
Come and experience, because more than anything else it is a path of experience.
I invite you…
