A lover once suggested to me that the energy of devotion is more important than love.

It’s being there, not half-heartedly, not luke-warm.
It’s the expression of body, mind, heart and soul, aligned, in loving, in expressing that love, creatively.
It’s being willing to let myself dissolve into you, and still keep my centre.
So many of us settle.
So many of us, once I have you, I stop.
And we let the passion die.
We let the fire fizzle out.
Our hearts wither, close, shrink, into hard, hurt, cold lonely places of longing.
The presence of devotion is the breath that renews us with every inhale.
It’s the light that reveals the endless facets of this jewel of intimacy.
It’s the touch that awakens our bodies again and again, as endless waves of sensation roll through us.
It’s the eyes that are willing to see, to be seen, in a gaze that takes us closer to the edge of who we are.
It’s the everyday and the special, constantly.
We tend it in the same way we breathe, the same way we feed our bodies.
It’s the living of love from the being of love.
