I facilitated an event on the weekend called Liquid Touch, based on Liquid Love.
As far I know it’s the 1st time it’s been done in South Africa, and will definitely happen again.
I do a lot of events that are deep, impactful in many ways.
We sat afterwards looking at people’s faces, so open, so relaxed, so peaceful. Faces of bodies so filled with oxytocin and love, that when you see them, you can see that something inside has moved.
Bodies so soft, where so much has been released, beyond words. You can see that something inside has moved.
Eyes that were shiny and open.
All from connection and touch.
Such human expressions.
Such vulnerable expressions.
Such powerful expressions.
Such sensual expressions.
Not sensual in the way so many of us look at that, not sensual connected to sex, not sensual as foreplay.
Sensual as an expression of movement and touch and breath and skin and heart and intimacy and openness and texture and feeling.
Sensual as being.
Spaces and experiences such as these, with respect, as much safety as we can create, as deep a connection as we’ll allow, as liberating as we’ll feel, are rare and precious.
When we look at a world so polarized, a world where so many of us look for what separates us, what judges us, what disconnects us. A world where mediocrity and sameness is encouraged, even revered. A world where pleasure is mostly so misunderstood and shallow.
Spaces and experiences such as these are treasures with gifts that are priceless.
In doing this work for over 30 yrs, in Conscious Sexuality I see some very different models.
For so many of us the journey begins with healing, something that needs to be fixed, something that’s broken.
There are many paths to do this, the mind, the body, not that we can really separate them, although we can work with them differently. Energy, the heart. So many modalities.
Then there’s something else.
The path of growth and experience.
It’s not ignoring, suppressing, pretending there are not issues, blockages, hurts and pains.
It’s a different way of moving them. And it’s where pleasure, sensation, feeling, sensing, experiencing becomes a path.
It’s moving them in the body, in a contained space, a present space, and what emerges, we work with that.
It’s a space where the phrase ‘wisdom of the body’, comes into being.
It’s a space where the languages of the body, touch, movement, breath and sound are the portal, the way in.
This allows us to come to the mind in a different way, and in time, to have a different relationship with the mind, a different awareness of our thoughts.
That’s where so many of our patterns sit, that’s where so many of our beliefs live, that’s where so much of our conditioning holds us locked in place.
In these experiences, with awareness, so much within us can release, open, soften, let go.
That’s the healing.
I remember a teacher telling me once, in Tantra first the learning is in the body, then in the eyes, then in the words.
In the body is in the experience, the practice, the feeling.
The eyes, of a teacher sitting opposite you, a lover, a group.
Then the words, the explanation, the understanding, the stuff of the mind.
All together, in experience.
Over all the time of sharing this, learning, growing, expanding, sharing, I’ve seen how much happens when we come together, one-on-one, in a group, and how powerful, transformational, connecting, these spaces and experiences are.
Mystical, magical. Simply because that’s what it seems like.
It doesn’t mean, from a place of healing, growth, which are extensions of each other, that it’s all easy and pleasurable. Sometimes it’s the vulnerability of a pleasure experience that opens deep emotion within us, hurt, anger, abandonment, all of it. That shows us where we need to work, what’s in the way. That takes us to the places to do the work.
It’s but one path on this wondrous journey.
I invite you to share some of it with me…
