TOUCH AS MEDITATION, THE FEELING OF PRESENCE AND INTIMACY

Share

There is touch that heals, touch that soothes, touch that calms.

There is touch that arouses, touch that excites, touch that pleasures.

There is touch that opens, touch that releases, touch that relaxes.

There is touch that transforms, touch that reveals, touch that expands.

There is touch that’s intimate, touch that loves, touch that connects.

There is touch that is sacred, touch that is worship, touch that is prayer.

There is touch where all of those, and more, come together.

And there is touch that’s not.

Touch is a language of the body, a language that goes deep inside, beyond words. A language of knowing, a language of feeling.

Touch that knows, and the more we listen, the more we hear, the more we know.

The world of touch offers us so much, invites so much, and it just may be limitless.

Then there’s something else that touch offers us.

Touch as meditation.

Touch that is meditation.

Touch in this particular way invites us to meditate through, in and with the body.

There are so many ways for us to touch, there are so many ways for us to meditate.

And when we bring them together some special things happen.

Touch in this way is a specific and deliberate experience, the intention is touch as meditation.

Touch as meditation takes me within myself. Your body is the space I meditate on, in, with. This touch is mine, an expression of a space within me, shared with you. The deeper I go within, the deeper the touch reaches into you. The quieter I am inside, the more still I am inside, the more that flows through my hands to you.

This is a meditation of the body rather than of the mind.

It’s not trying to still the mind, it’s dropping deep and deeper into the body and the soft, slow touch on your skin is that inner feeling alive.

This touch seeks nothing, wants nothing, as much of our touch does.

It’s beyond performance and expectation, reaction or response. It is simple presence.

It goes nowhere, has no goal, has no end, no pattern.

It moves, it pauses, it flows in the way it does, guided by my breath, my heart, the pulsation within.

It’s not about healing, pleasure or anything else, it’s the touch of being.

It has no purpose other than to touch as a meditation, which takes me deeper within myself.

Touch becomes the way of presence, and in time, the way of transcendence.

Here’s the paradox of touch as meditation.

In so much other touch, I’m touching you for you, as well as for me.

In healing, I’m touching you for you.

In pleasure, I’m touching you for you. And for me, of course.

Here, I’m touching you for me, and the deeper I can go within myself, the deeper the touch, the energy, the sensation, the feeling, moves in you.

The feel of your skin, the texture, the shape, brings me into a focus. To just feel.

With direction to do anything other feel. Deliberately.

The movement, slow, becomes slower, slower than you can imagine.

Soft, just resting on your skin, shaping my hands around the contours of your body in exquisite detail. This place of touch, the diffuse focus, drops me into myself. My breath slows, my mind slows, till I feel the pulsation that can only be felt in stillness.

Time dissolves.

We dissolve.

Learning to touch in this way, as meditation, is both an inner and outer journey.

They dance together, each one taking the other deeper.

And what’s beautiful, our sensual touch, pleasure touch, healing touch, expands and deepens, becomes more sensitive. We feel more in these expressions of touch, listen to the body more, become more present, more intimate.

Come and experience this touch, come and learn, explore this touch.
