Words on My Lover’s Body

If you wrote a poem on your lover’s body, what would it say?

Even your imaginary lover, the lover that you would like to have, the lover you dream about.

Where on their body would you write it?

Would they be words of desire and passion?

Would they be words of intimacy and love?

Would they be words of longing?

Would they be words you were afraid to say in the light of day?

Would they be words you could only whisper in the dark of night?

Would they be words of gratitude?

Would they be words of devotion?

Would they be words you’d never dared share before, words that come from the dark places within you?

Would they be words of gentleness, softness, tenderness, to wrap your lover in safety?

Would they be words of surrender, or conquer and power in the moment?

Would they be words of secret desires that you share only in a whisper?

Would they be words of a prayer, a sacred song to the spirit your lover embodies?

Would they be words of your beauty?

Would they be words that burn a fire into your skin, even as you write them?

Would they be words that take you into the mystical realm of pleasure?

Would they be words of exquisite savagery?

Would they be words for eternity?

What would your words be?

Theirs is such a beautiful practice in this, with so many possibilities.

You could write the words, your words, anywhere on your partner’s body, take a picture to show them.

You could cover their body with your words, make it an experience of the sensation as you write, and tell them, whisper in their ear, what you’re writing on their body.

You could make it a practice for a week, to write something different every day.

It could be a ritual, it could be fun, it could be both.

And so many other things you might think of, on this beautiful, limitless canvas of your lover’s body.
